The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research(PGIMER) is a premier medical and research institute, which is located at the foothills of the Shivalik Mountains, in the city of Chandigarh, India. Founded in 1962, it is an independent organisation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. RGI is recognized for its advanced medical education and research work in disciplines that include, high quality medics such as oncology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology and gastroenterology. There are 22 fields of study the institute an undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses to offer. While one frequent option is MD in Internal Medicine and the other one is MS in General Surgery. The 2024 session entrance examination for 2024 could possibly be held in May 2024. Enrollment into these courses is by the entrance examination conducted at the national level. Following the placement, candidates are then subjected to a three-year intensive residency period. Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research Eligibility Criteria 2024
1. The candidate must have completed MBBS with aggregation of 55% marks or more or any other equivalent degree which is accredited by MCI. These should be either final year interns or interns who have completed their internship programme.
2. I think interns who have run successfully for one year should be the priority in the interview. You have to appear for an admission test like AIIMS PG or PGI Chandigarh for getting admission to medical courses.
3. There is no defined maximum age limit for candidates who wish to run as independents or market party nominees. For these sections / Dalit/OBC there is a 5 years waiver in the upper age limits as per government rules.
4. The candidates who have the qualification of MBBS/MD/MS in any subject will not be allowed to enter except those having Diploma in Radio Diagnosis/Dermatology/Psychiatry/Neurology.
5. Candidates in the sponsored position should have minimum of two years' work experience in the relevant field after completion of internship. They must have a certificate of sponsorship, issued by a state or the competent authority.
6. The Ministry of Affaires has been engaged in offering scholarship program. Also, the self financing foreign students will be considered. They must first register with the MCI provided they are successful in the initial selection process.

1. They must have at least completed an MBBS degree and been registered with the Medical Council as well to be eligible for admission. The needful thing they should do is register online through the admissions portal once the admissions notification is out.
2. Depending on the choices and preferences rank by students in their entrance exams, they sit for interviews where they select from the available specializations across the other departments.
3. The Commission or the Candidates Committee will review all documents at the time of registration to verify whether the applicant fulfils the all the eligibility criteria, category, educational qualifications required.
4. The process happens through offline seat allocation using an online counselling round based on your entrance exam ranks, available seats, your already given preferences and your reservation quotas.
5. In case students are assigned priority, they should make a payment for the admission and confirm their seat within stipulated date after every round of counseling.
6. The next step is the allocation of seats to successful candidates who, finally, are medically examined before they are given admission into the postgraduate course.
